Cow Pony?
January 31, 2013
I have been interested in trying out a little cow work. Maybe try out some sorting or something. I never really thought Simon would be very good at it, but I don’t mind trying for fun. I was lunging him on Sunday, and Daisy was running along and zipped past him, and he hates dogs, so he went after her. I snapped off a few pictures with my phone, and I really think he has a little bit of a cow horse look in this one.
What do you think?

Simon and Daisy
January 29, 2013
Simon is dog aggressive, and very much enjoys chasing them down in the attempt to stomp and bite them. Daisy is aware of this, and very much enjoys antagonizing him. Recently Daisy was running around the field, antagonizing Simon, and he was running after her, attempting to stomp and bite her.

Simon and Milli Dynamics
January 27, 2013
Simon LOVES having Milli as his field mate. They are inseparable. He loves all over her, and then bullies her around, and she tolerates him completely. When I work with one, the other runs the barn yard whinnying to the other (a bit annoying).
They both come running when they see me with big happy happy ears. But Simon gets pushy, and bullies Milli away so he gets first dibs on me.
Milli politely waits for her turn to get some lovin from me.
But its all an act. They even share their feed tubs. They finish his and then eat hers. So silly.

Riding in the Cold – 2013
January 26, 2013
A friend sent me this comic and it is very appropriate for the past few days of below average weather.
I have made a point of acquiring quality winter outdoor gear over the past few years. It makes all the difference. And like most equestrians, I get in a funk when I don’t get to ride for a few days. So having good outdoor gear is necessary.
Sometimes I don’t even realize I am in a funk until I get on and go for a ride. It works like magic. In fact, about two weeks ago I was talking to my teammate Kim, and was rambling on about being in a funk and she said “you just need to go for a ride.” I grumbled a bit more, but the next day I took her advice and made sure I got in a ride. And she was right, I just needed to sit on my pony and I felt balanced again.
So yeah, even in the winter, it is worth bundling up just to sit on my pony.
