Last year MGAA – Mounted Games Across America took part in the Pennsylvania Horse World Expo. We hosted an information booth in the vendor area, and we did a one hour demo to a packed house. This year we were invited back!
We had a fantastic time slot, Saturday from 4-5pm in the Equine Arena. We showed up with five teams including three masters level, one intermediate and one (fossil) adult team so we could represent the diversity of MGAA riders. And lets not forget the amazing MGAA ring crew, announcer and referee. Nothing happens in MGAA without all the volunteer crew.
Simon and I rode with two of our usual teammates, Linda on her pony Blue and Kim T. on her new pony Milli, as three of the members of the fossil team. Friends, Phylis and Kim W. joined us to complete the team. We had a fantastic time, leading up to, during and after the demo. I always enjoy riding with Linda and Kim T. but it was a treat to be able to ride with Phylis and Kim W.
The other four teams were fantastic as always. Mackenzie got a collective “OOOOOH” from the crowd as her association stack toppled but followed it up with a big running vault and received a roaring applause. All of the teams looked professional and amazing, as they sped up and down the arena shuffling mugs, and scooping bottles.
The demo started a bit bumpy for Simon and I. He was distracted and pumped up by the crowd and I was a little nervous. I felt like I was driving a school bus through the speed weavers race, and our litter race was abysmal. I decided to pull up to a full stop for my scoop, which caused Simon to pop a little, begin to paw, stomp and kick his litter. fantastic. We picked up our games from there, and I was pleased to complete all of our handoffs smoothly.
It was also fantastic to see Kim and Milli make their debut. I am so happy for them. It looks like Milli found her calling, and I can’t wait to see what Kim and her achieve together.
Enjoy these fantastic photos compliments of McKayla and EquiStar Photography.
