This week we are throwing back to 1996, and the IMGA World Team Championship that was held in Sweden.

I was 17 years old and had just graduated high school. Ah the memories.

My team traveled to England, met up with some of the GB team riders, picked up ponies and then we all headed to Sweden via ferry.

It was a really exciting trip but not so great on the riding front. We ended up with pony trouble of and eventually were eliminated from the competition. Not a fantastic out come at all.

I do remember that although it was summer, it was cold. There was a small beach we could walk to from the grounds and the ocean was full of amazing jelly fish. We had one pony named Boris, who quite fit the name and reminded me of a triceratops dressed as a pony.

In the team photo the MGAGB team (who I the giant Toblerone bars and trophies went to) are in the back, and in the front the US team, from left to right: Joe B, myself (Krista), Colleen M (now R), Chris R, and Mark W. Our trainer was Robert T.

Sunday Riding

March 12, 2014

On Sunday Carol Ann and I rode the same loop at Bear Trap that we rode two weeks ago.

Carol Ann rode her pony Puck. He started out nervous but quickly relaxed and enjoyed the ride.

Saturday Visit

March 11, 2014

We had some family visiting on Saturday and my nephew, Marley, asked if he could ride horses. I knew Simon would be game.

Marley rode Simon for about 45 minutes. He shuffled mugs, moved flags from cone to cone, and dunked balls in buckets and high low nets.

Marley did an awesome job and Simon was a real super star.

I took riding lessons for a few years before I got my first pony, Skippy. This is the only photo I have of him. That’s me on his back at my friend Emmy’s house. Her mom, Mary helped me tack up in lent tack. Skippy ended up being too much pony for me at the time and was returned shortly. A few years later he would have made a nice games pony.

Funny story. When we returned Skippy to my dad’s friend. He rode the pony up rt15 for at least 10 miles to Eylers horse auction to sell him. I bet he was dead quiet when he got there.

This is a small competition that was held in Kentucky in the early 2000 time frame. My sister, Kerri and I rode with my long time teammate, Mark and one of his students.

This is when I was riding Osh Kosh and was still athletic and could vault! Ahhh, the good old days.
